More people than ever are using the internet. According to the Pew Research Center, almost 90% of all American adults go online. For some demographic groups like Millennials, internet use is “ubiquitous.”
And large numbers of those people are turning to the internet not just for breaking news, YouTube videos, or social media, but for their health.
70% of American adults have asked a doctor about a health condition. An almost equal number, however, have asked Google or WebMD, turning to the web to research and/or self-diagnose conditions (leading to the rise of what Pew calls “online diagnosers”).
