Integrated Process Design


Challenge

Seeking to deliver a more personalized customer experience while still maximizing return on inventory and space, this retailer recognized the need to deploy integrated technology and enhance store clustering, item planning, assortment rationalization, and floor and space planning processes. Specifically, the company sought to tailor product assortments based on customer purchasing habits, at both the corporate and individual store levels. To get there, disparate assortment management and space management processes and existing technology had to be overhauled.


Solution

Infinitive served as process design lead, working closely with internal functional experts, larger cross-functional teams, technology solution providers, and internal stakeholders to design and document the future state process. Infinitive assisted with:

  • identifying gaps and deficiencies in the existing processes;
  • facilitating process design sessions;
  • developing detailed use-case scenarios to validate process alignment with technical solutions;
  • managing issue resolution;
  • documenting and facilitating cross-functional approval of future-state processes and serving as business advisors when appropriate.
As functional experts, Infinitive also participated in application testing and partnered with training and support teams to develop curriculum, execute training and drive faster, broader adoption.


Results

The retailer is currently implementing the future-state processes and supporting toolsets. The integrated approach, cross-functional collaboration, fact-based evaluations, and timely decision making incorporated into the process will help realize the end vision - selling the right product in the right stores at the right time, and in the right location within the stores.
