Black Friday Will Be Quite Rosy: Holiday Spending Forecast from Consumer Spend Data

With the holiday season approaching, consumers are scavenging for the best retail and travel bargains. To predict consumer shopping behaviors between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Commerce Signals created a Holiday Spending Forecast. It’s predicted that card spending will increase by 11% and sales will grow by 16% compared to 2021. Travel spending is expected to return to its pre-pandemic level with an increase of 32% compared to last year. However, while retail and travel have projected growth, personal incomes are facing sluggish growth due to inflation therefore decreasing discretionary spending.
